Foodie Gift Basket

For the health-conscious foodie, assemble a basket of seasonal fresh fruit, no-bake energy bites or a sweet or savory nut mix. Weis Quality Chopped Pecans are unseasoned and ready for baking, cooking, snacking, topping or turning into nut mix. To make a seasoned nut mix, simply toss two cups of assorted, unsalted nuts with one tablespoon of light tasting olive oil, plus a pinch of herbs and spices. Then, bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes, stirring once, until they are lightly browned and fragrant. Try flavor combinations such as cumin, smoked paprika and cayenne pepper; Italian seasoning and crushed red pepper flakes or pumpkin pie spice.

Granola from Scratch

Give ‘em granola! Transform the unbeatable flavor of gingerbread cookies from molasses, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon into our Spiced Gingerbread Granola that contains oats and quinoa. Brer Rabbit® Molasses is made from the finest quality unsulfured juices of sun-ripened sugarcane. Its level of sweetness and flavor intensity results from the boiling process to yield a light and sweet Mild Flavor or bold and rich Full Flavor. Outside of the holiday baking season, use Mild Flavor Molasses to sweeten hot drinks, yogurt and cereal and Full Flavor Molasses to make barbecue sauce and baked beans.

Cookie Sampler

Bake a few batches of tried and true holiday cookie recipes to make an irresistible sampler. For a consistent baking performance every time, choose King Arthur® All-Purpose, White Whole Wheat or Whole Wheat Flours. Their White Whole Wheat Flour has a mild flavor and is easy to use in place of all-purpose flour to give baked goods a boost of fiber, whole grains, vitamins and minerals. When baking with flour always remember to practice the fluff, spoon and sweep technique to avoid measuring too much or too little flour into the recipe.

Fluff flour with a spoon or whisk before measuring.

Spoon (don’t scoop) it into a dry measuring cup.

Sweep off the excess with the back of a butter knife.

Baking a batch of gluten-free treats? Stir in new Quaker® Select Starts Gluten Free Quick Oats for added whole grains and fiber. This new variety of whole grain Quaker® Oats is expertly milled to remove any stray wheat, rye or barley. When not using it to bake, turn it into a warm and nutritious=breakfast that takes just one minute to cook! Line cookie pans with Reynold’s® Cookie Baking Sheets to ensure cookies bake evenly and retain their shape and appearance without crumbling or cracking. Each sheet of this parchment paper is precut to the size of a standard cookie sheet and packed to lay flat right out of the box so it won’t curl or roll. They also help cookies slide with ease from the tray with no grease or cooking spray needed.

Hot Chocolate Mix

Create an attractive hot chocolate mix by layering cocoa powder, sugar, dry milk and marshmallows in a clear glass mug or jar. For superior flavor, use minimally-processed Zulka® Morena All Natural Non-GMO Pure Cane Sugar. Sourced and dried from freshly-harvested sugar cane, these golden sweet sugar crystals deliver a full-bodied flavor and aromatic sweetness to baked goods, hot drinks, cereal and more. It measures cup-for-cup like white sugar for a foolproof substitution in any recipe.

Storage Savvy

Part of the fun of a do-it-yourself food gift is choosing the decorative tin, jar or bag to give it in. You can use GladWare® food storage Containers too. Prepare food gifts like granola, quick breads, muffins and layer bars no more than one or two days in advance of gifting and store them in GladWare® Containers to preserve their flavor. For best results, store soft baked goods in one container and crispy ones in another to prevent changes in their texture.
